A spice cake recipe that calls for old cold coffee?
My great grandmother used to make a spice cake Pleasure. The recipe involved cold coffee (not turn right if the coffee was not cold). It also participates in all the mix (I think) to refrigerate overnight before cooking. Does anyone have a recipe like that? Additional information: I have confirmed with father, who was really hot coffee at first, but let stand overnight. Then, the day Next, when cooking, if the coffee is too hot yet, the cake will come out green, but always tasteful. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about this? This is apparently old and the recipe …. thanks!
Gyngerbrede spicy ingredients 1 / 2 c butter 2 3 / 4 c. flour 2 c with grated orange peel 1 teaspoon soda 1 / 2 teaspoon salt 1 / 2 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 3 eggs 1 teaspoon molasses or sorghum Mace bis c 1 1 cc of nutmeg 1 / 4 cup orange juice 1 / 2 cup raisins Instructions 4.1 c brandy or coffee coffee may be substituted for the brandy. Cream butter and orange rind together. Gradually add sugar brown and cream background. Mix eggs well beaten. Beat hard for 1-2 minutes until dough is smooth. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices and add to the mix alternating cream with honey and the juice of the orange mix / brandy. Add raisins. Pour into well greased and floured 8 "x 12" x 2-1/2 Pan Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
